Who are we?
New Frontier is the Northern California and Northern Nevada region of USY and Kadima, one of 17 different regions in USY-the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) youth movement.
Over the course of the year, New Frontier runs several events and conventions helping Jewish teens come together and form strong, lasting, friendships. Although we are affiliated with the Conservative Movement, we welcome any Jew who would like to participate. The region was founded in 1966 and has been educating, engaging, inspiring, and caring for USYers across Northern California and Northern Nevada ever since. In addition, as of December 2013, we also are the region that hosts the USY International President for 2014, Aaron Pluemer. |
What do we do?
Every year, the New Frontier region hosts, plans and runs 4 different conventions: LTI, Fall Kinnus, Winter Shabbaton, and May Convention, along with Kadima Konvention, Kadima Day, and Mini Mission Mitzvah.
Each convention has a unique theme and most often includes a Social Action/ Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) event/project. Our conventions also include religious themes to help grow our USYers religious identity, and Israel based programs to help strengthen our connection with Israel. The purpose of our conventions is to bring all of the Jewish teenagers in the region together for a weekend to celebrate their Judaism, make life-long friends, and of course have fun! |
